Free Instant Works for Windows & Office

How it works

Four steps, about two minutes. Everything happens on the activation screen your PC already has.

1

Open the phone-activation screen

Press Win+R on the PC you want to activate, run the command below, then pick your country when Windows asks. slui 4 For Office, use the activation wizard's “I want to activate the software by telephone” option instead.
2

Copy your Installation ID

The screen shows an Installation ID — 9 blocks of digits (A through H, plus one more). Write down or photograph all of them, in order.
3

Paste it into the tool below

Enter the Installation ID (and your product key, if the tool asks for it) into the form below and submit it. A Confirmation ID comes back in seconds.
4

Enter the Confirmation ID on your PC

Go back to the activation screen, type the Confirmation ID into the numbered boxes and click Activate Windows. Your product is now activated — no phone call needed.

Frequently asked questions

What is an Installation ID?
The Installation ID is a long number — shown as nine blocks of digits — that Microsoft generates on your PC when you choose phone activation. It identifies that specific installation. The activation service turns it into a matching Confirmation ID, which you type back into the same screen to finish activating.
Why would I need phone activation at all?
Online activation can fail even with a perfectly valid key — after a hardware change, on a PC with no internet, behind a restrictive network, or when a retail key is being moved to a new machine. Phone activation is Microsoft’s official fallback path for exactly those cases. This page just saves you the actual phone call.
Which products does this work for?
Retail and phone-activation keys for Microsoft Windows (10 and 11, Home/Pro/Enterprise) and Microsoft Office (2016, 2019, 2021, 2024 and Project/Visio) — including the "Activate by Phone" products we sell. It does not work for volume/KMS activation, OEM keys locked to another motherboard, or Microsoft 365 subscriptions, which activate through your account instead.
What if the Confirmation ID is rejected?
A rejected CID almost always means the key itself is the problem: it has already been used on the maximum number of devices, or it is the wrong edition for the installed product (for example a Pro key on a Home installation). Reinstall or repair with the correct edition, then try again. If the key came from us, contact support with your order ID and a screenshot of the error and we will verify or replace it.
Is this free?
Yes. The tool is free to use and you do not need an account with us. The Confirmation ID is generated by the linked Microsoft self-service activation tool embedded below, which is operated by a third party — we provide the guidance and the page around it.
